Kaba Kaba Estate - an elite haven

Kaba Kaba Estate is a regal, no-expense-spared property in Bali’s Tabanan regency, arranged among three acres of gardens with spectacular views over rice terraces stretching to the distant, volcano-strewn horizon. Its series of individual pavilions house eight bedrooms, a home theatre, games room, library, gym, spa, and multiple living areas showcasing antiques, artefacts and contemporary art. Within the gardens is a choice of pools – including a children’s wading pool – as well as a tennis court and croquet lawn. Fully staffed by a highly professional team, Kaba Kaba Estate offers five-star service and is the ideal location for luxurious holidays, parties, celebrations and romantic weddings.

Location

Kaba Kaba Estate lies at the edge of the sleepy village of Kaba Kaba – a stunning example of a traditional Balinese village, and regarded as one of the prettiest on the island.  The surrounding rice fields and neighbourhoods are waiting to be discovered, and provide endless opportunities for walking or cycling (bicycles are available for guest use) or for witnessing a ceremony at a local temple (ask the villa manager if your visit coincides with one of these not-to-be-missed events).  Just a short drive away, next to the dramatic cliff-top sea temple at Tanah Lot, is the Nirwana Bali Golf Course, designed by Greg Norman and voted the number one golf course in Asia.

The coastline nearest to Kaba Kaba is rugged and the beaches more suited for walking than swimming, but the surfers’ haunt of Echo Beach, with its smattering of casual waterfront cafés, is fun to visit, as is the delightful Tugu Hotel, just down the beach, while the glamorous boutiques and restaurants of Seminyak are less than half an hour from the villa.

About Tabanan

Tabanan has a 30-kilometre-long coastline, which presents isolated coves and rocky outcrops and is famous for its surf beaches, including Medewi and Balian, offering the longest point breaks in Bali. (The drawbacks if you’re not a surfer are the sometimes-three-metre-high waves and the undertows). The beaches are sloping and lovely to walk along; covered with black sand which is regarded for its curative, therapeutic properties and especially helpful for arthritis.

The Regency is known as Bali’s ‘rice bowl’ – the most agriculturally productive region on the island, with rice fields stretching from the coast to as high as 700 metres above sea level, where the terraces are reminiscent of amphitheatres. Besides rice, there are crops of coconuts, coffee, cacao, spices and tropical fruits. This area is also home to Mount Batukau (2276m), the higher slopes of which are alpine, with mountain streams, ferns, wildflowers, creepers and orchids, as well as the rare, black, leaf-eating monkey, the kijang (small forest deer), large butterflies and moths, flying lizards, the landak (porcupine) and the lubak (mongoose). It is also a bird watchers’ paradise, habitat of the Bali black eagle.

There are no western-style shops or bars in this area, and restaurants serving international cuisine are few and far between, mainly adjoined to the region’s limited number of small and remote hotels.

About Bali

Bali is Indonesia’s most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia's premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer.

The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life’s more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill.

Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.

We’ve been lucky enough to visit a lot of beautiful villas in our time, but Kaba Kaba Estate exceeded all expectations of comfort, luxuriousness, good taste and space.  There’s so much to do on the estate itself that its out-of-town location is not an issue.  Everything has been thought of, from tennis, foosball, air hockey and all the major electronic game consoles, through to a library, gym and even a croquet lawn.  If only we’d had more time!  As it was, the pools, the spa and the spectacular home cinema were more than enough to relax and entertain us.

The staff were just the right mix of professional and friendly, and the chef is a consummate pro, delighting us with everything he presented.  Although there is a selection menu, we highly suggest that you just ‘go blind’ (like we did) and let the chef and his team surprise you with their magic.  Our simple, three-course Balinese dinner was off-the-charts delicious.

Do go for an early morning wander through the rice fields.  The locals are very friendly and the experience will be something the regular tour guides can’t give you.  The wide-open spaces are awe inspiring.

We stayed at Kaba Kaba for our family holiday from June 7th - 11 Oct 2016. We had very high expectations after all the researched we have done. And the experience has surpassed our all expectations. The staff were extremely helpful and warm. They were very patient with our children and took care of all their needs. We had an incredible time and much of it was thanks to you.The villa is beautifully designed and the rooms are spacious and every details has been taken care off. Our experience has been fabulous and we will positively visit again soon.

We were recommended to look at Kaba Kaba Estate to celebrate my 30th birthday and recent engagement. Our guests flew from LA, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. The entire weekend experience was more than we could here asked for. The villa is well maintained and gorgeous. But what truly made our time special was attentive and gentle natural of the staff. No request was too small or too impossible to ask for. The entire staff took the initiative at all times and made our guests feel completely at home. However, two people truly deserve special mention, the first is Kadek, who from the moment we walked in was implacably dressed and ready to attend to every our need. The second is Rahmat, without Rahmat to managing the staff, our holiday would not have resulted in such memorable weekend. Rahmat also was helping me manage a fleet of cars going back and forth between other villas. He is such joy to deal with, he is always on the ball, understands guest needs and clearly goes over and above.

This has been the most a magical time for us. Thank you very much for welcoming us so warmly and carrying us into your home. I can’t tell how well you have taken good care & we have felt it has simply been spectacular. The attention to detail is unrivaled. Rahmat is quite unique - completely relaxed on surface and yet an incredible manager ensuring everything all goes without mistake, quite incredible. Everyone from the security team, gardeners, engineer, housekeeping, butler, kitchen staff and secretary have been lovely, professional + fully smile + charm. We will miss you all very much. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for making the memories.
